A Club Reborn…..
In 2011 a group of drivers, speedway enthusiasts and keen
Katanning locals, got together and decided it was time to re-build the
Katanning Speedway Club and its track “Pinwernying Park” to its
former glory.
This was not a simple process, as the club had closed after the 2001
season finished due to increased insurance costs, and it took quite
some time to re-establish the club, with committees to be formed,
leases to sign and new laws and regulations to meet, however it was
decided that as the infrastructure was there, the huge task of not
only re-building the track would go ahead, but the plan was to make
the venue bigger and better than ever!
We identified the need to get involved in the fast growing burnout
scene and added to the original small concrete pad with a new
25x20m burnout pad, with no walls, connected to the original pad
with a 30m long tip in run! This makes it one of the most interesting
and unique burnout pads in WA!
With huge support from our volunteer base, committee, the local
Katanning Shire and the Department of Sport & Recreation WA and
numerous local business’ after 4½ long years, and allot of blood
sweat and beers, the club has recently run some very successful
burnout events, we have our annual car show Octane in October
which attracts a huge crowd to both the Show ‘N’ Shine and our
popular auction night.
And we have recently announced our first Speedway race meeting in
15 years, the Rainmaker 30 event, will be held on Saturday 7th May
2016, and will see the Modified Sedans as our feature division battle
it out in a 15/15 event for the prestige of winner the feature event at
Katannings grand re-opening.

coming up, have a look at our history page and our photo gallery to
